Sheena Payne was just a year shy of her bachelor’s degree from Florida State University when she found out she was pregnant. As a single mom, she moved to Orlando so she and her daughter, Laila, could be near her family.

Solihull College has been praised for its outstanding commitment to training after scooping two prestigious awards.

At this year’s UK National Training Awards, Solihull College received a West Midlands Training Award for its excellent retail training programmes which focussed on developing workforces in the Bullring shopping mall in Birmingham and Solihull’s own Touchwood shopping centre. (more…)

University of Aberdeen: Pupils experience day in the life of a student

Pupils from across Aberdeen city and shire will have the unique opportunity to experience what life is like as a student today (Friday 14 November), thanks to the launch of a new University of Aberdeen initiative.

From lectures and tutorials to study skills and social events, 30 S6 pupils will gain an exclusive insight into a typical day for a scholar at the institution, on a visit to the University’s King’s College Campus. (more…)

Fairmont State University: Pierpont Culinary Team to Compete Nationally

Pierpont Community & Technical College’s Culinary Team won the American Culinary Federation West Virginia Jr. Hot Food Competition this week, earning a berth to the ACF Northeast Regional to be held in Boston in February 2009.

Students Amanda Emerson, Ted Hastings, Joe White, Kellie Smith, Sarabeth Cox (alternate), Kristina Baker (alternate) and Coach Jay Mahoney, CEC, went head-to-head with Marshall Community & Technical College in a one-day dual competition held Nov. 10 in Beckley. The highly acclaimed judging panel for the event included two Master Chefs– Peter Timmins and John Johnstone– and the former U.S. Culinary Olympic Team Captain Keith Coughenour, CEC. (more…)
